Noisemakers 2000: Let the music Moog ya

>> Alexandre Kano's got the goods to make it happen

By KRISTA

Just about every hip hop or electronic music DJ/producer in Montreal knows about Moog Audio's Kano. Being a DJ and needing equipment for home or the studio is like an addiction, and Kano is the man with the quick fix of gear, supplying everything from turntables and needles to high-end mixers, keyboards, effects processors and more.

At only 21, Kano is already the main distributor for Montreal's hipper jocks looking for gear from names like Numark, Vestax and Sure. He designed Numark's Pro SM-1 mixer, and is the official Montreal sponsor for the DMC and ITF competitions, plus of local DJs Choice, Storm and Devious.

In the coming year Kano will open a DJ school in Montreal and a Moog Audio in Vice magazine's Toronto store. He also plans to start designing personalized accessories for DJs, like filters and effects processors, and might even get around to putting out some of his own studio productions. l
