Everything's coming up...

by KRISTA

Brace yourselves kids! Globetrotting local superstar DJ Fred Everything has returned home! After three-and-a-half long months of hard living in dreary London where he was forced to play at clubs like Ministry of Sound and Home, our Fred found himself longing for the exhilarating Montreal nightlife, and so back he came. Mr. Everything resumes his regular Vira La Derencha night at Jingxi this Thursday, December 9, and is DJ Uzi's special guest this Friday, December 10 for Body Music, at Jai Bar.

Also this Friday, December 10, the Bombay Records crew, consisting of Nav Bhinder and Patrick Dream, take over for their monthly all-nighter at Stereo. Joining them for what is sure to be a golden evening of tropical vibes is Los Angeles DJ/producer/promoter and playboy (according to legend) Marques Wyatt. FYI, Wyatt started on the L.A. house circuit in the late '80s running the first club night to showcase live house performances, and over the years has held residencies at L.A.'s most legendary club nights. So dig that Hawaiian print shirt out of the clothes hamper and scrounge up $20 for the cover charge.

Who looks like he should be modelling for Prada and plays big pounding electro-techno? It's Peacefrog and Novamute recording artist Luke Slater and he's at Sona this Friday, December 10. As usual, Ramasutra's in the bar, Tiga and Yaz are in the main room, and Jordan Dare, Devious and Kwite Sane control the basement. $20 at the door.

One more reason to go out on a Sunday night instead of staying in to watch bad reruns of The Outer Limits is to check out Big Treat at Tokyo bar where resident DJ Keith Rocka and his guests explore all manner of beats and breaks. Guests this Sunday, December 12, are Buck Rogers and his trusty sidekick D.R. One. Next Sunday's guest is Gazette music critic/DJ T'cha.

One more argument for "the other white meat," best mate and fellow Pork recording artist Baby Mammoth blesses Jai Bar next Wednesday, December 15. Fill up on more tasty, protein-rich morsels of downtempo music.

And on the other end of the breakbeat spectrum, Philly's premier DJ Dieselboy joins Jordan Dare, MC's Fuse and Red, and Double A & Twist for the second installment of the monthly Dune Recordings night at Nitebox. $10 at the door.

It has been brought to my attention that I have been misprinting information and omitting important data regarding Therapy at Jai Bar, so allow me to correct the mistake. Therapy is brought to you every Thursday by hosts Claudy and Inobe, and the resident DJ is jojoflores(R). Got it? Next Thursday, December 16, sees DJ/producer Gene King, a former Montrealer now living it large in big, bad T.O., behind the decks.

And now for something non-club night related--if you're into that Midwest, almost-booty sound of techno then check out local label Saboteur's latest release by L.A. Williams entitled Chi-Town Summer. And look for an upcoming compilation 12" featuring tracks from Woody McBride, DJ Hyperactive and Mateo. :
