Local drummer stops barber shop heist!

Area pharmacy assistant and drummer Davey Jones is being called a hero around Montreal West after playing a pivotal role in the daring apprehension of an armed robber last Friday afternoon on Westminster street.

Jones, the former Planet Smasher and current member of Acrylic, witnessed the robbery of Rocco's Barbershop from his post across the street at Budning's Pharmacy. Without consideration for his own safety, he immediately gave chase to the masked, knife-wielding miscreant, catching and disarming him along the rail tracks in Ville St-Pierre.

"Why would anyone want to rob poor old Rocco?" asks Jones. "He only cuts about 12 heads a week and charges less than anywhere else in the city." Rocco is respected by many of Montreal West's older citizens for his skill at cutting nose and ear hair. His agility with retro hairstyles has also made him something of a hit among many of the West End's more adventurous teenagers.

Following his feat of derring-do, Jones then spent much of the afternoon with police looking for the robber's weapon, which he had tossed away in the scuffle. "It took us a while to find the weapon but, unfortunately, not before we came across a hornets nest. We were stung several times."
