This week a Quebec Court judge ordered one such father to pay $1,000 in damages to the teenage referee he assaulted after his 12 year old was tossed off the ice for unsportsmanlike conduct at a Ville St-Pierre pee-wee tournament. Yes, we know, the kid might grow up to be a multi-millionaire player someday. But relax: it's just one game misconduct, and if he's anything like his father, it probably won't be his last.

insect Insect >> Hydro-Québec and its nefarious war of harassment on Montreal's western region During the ice storm, the West Island was the first to black out and the last (on the island, anyway) to get power back. Then they were disproportionately affected by the thunderstorms two weeks ago. This week, a fire at the South Shore Hertel power station blacked out Côte-St-Luc, Hampstead, NDG, Lachine, LaSalle, Verdun and Ville St-Pierre--all regions with a majority anglophone population. Coincidence?
