Spacemen 3 Playing With Fire (Space Age/Brilliant) Despite the title, there's no risk in buying this double disc of old stuff. Glorious trance rock guaranteed. 8.5 (RB)

AB Flex (Cryptic Souls/Serious) This Toronto bigmouth finally released his EP, which skillfully demonstrates that AB definitely has "lyrics to go." 8.5 (SC)

Floraline Self-titled (Minty Fresh/Page) Wonderpop from the Windy City, ideal for fans of Stereolab, et. al. Pretty, not cutesy, which is the way it should be. 8 (RB)

Naughty by Nature Nature's Finest (Tommy Boy) Present wackness aside, Vin, K-Gee and Treach had some hits. "Hip Hop Hooray," "Uptown Anthem," "Written on Ya Kitten." They're all here. 7 (SC)

Bonga Angola 72-74 (Coeurdelion/Musicor) Aching protest folk from Angola (obviously), with touches of Europe, soukouss from Congo and morna from Cap Vert. Heartbreaking at times. 7 (RB)

George Thorogood and the Destroyers Half a Boy, Half a Man (CMC/BMG) Gas station attendants and shippers and receivers rejoice! 6 (JC)

Various Girl's Night Out (BNA/BMG) What happened? The '50s had Patsy, the '70s had Loretta, but the women of '90s C&W are little more than walking, squawking hair-product ads. 3 (RB)

Various Romance Sundays (Warner) If Phil Collins, Foreigner and a double dose of Rod Stewart is your idea of "romantic," then... well, then you're an idiot. 2 (RB)

Rick Wakeman Return to the Center of the Earth (EMI) The worst piece of shit I've heard all year. 1 (JC)
