Angel >> Hemp and dope activists who aim big It's been more than three decades since New Yorker Dana Beal organized the first-ever smoke-in protest in 1967. Now, the pro-dope forces are going global. This coming Saturday, May 1, Beal is organizing the first-ever Million Marijuana March: people in over 25 cities from around the world--including such faraway places as Auckland, New Zealand and Johannesburg, South Africa--will be marching for the legalization cause. Montreal's march, organized by Bloc Pot leader Boris St-Maurice, begins at 3 p.m. in Carré St-Louis.
Insect >> Corporate welfare kingpin Bernard Landry Wow! 837 new multimedia jobs! All subsidized by the government to the tune of $15,000 each! Don't be fooled: Landry's job-creation announcement, made public earlier this week, is not that great. By the time it's over, multimedia corporations will pocket over $100 million in taxpayer money, and they'll likely create jobs they don't need just so they can cash in on the booty. Those who work in the industry call them "vaporware" jobs: you sit at a desk and surf the Web for eight months, then get fed up and leave--or get laid off. Sounds like a waste of everyone's time and money.
