Angel >> Pigeons in heat It's that time of year again, when all the pigeons come out of hiding and invade the city's parks. And all the lady pigeons walk around and peck at the ground, and all the horny boy pigeons puff up their necks and strut their stuff, cooing incessantly. Most of the time, the she-pigeons spend their time running away from the men. But if you're lucky, you'll witness a successful courtship: girl stands still, boy circles her numerous times, checking her out, then they lock beaks, bob their heads up and down together a few times, decide whose place they're going to go to, and fly away together. It's the only time, ever, when pigeons are endearing.

Insect >> Pushy, egotistical real estate developers Like real estate magnate Mustafa Tatlici, for example. Tatlici had planned a 25-storey luxury hotel named after himself (Le Tat) on the corner of Simpson and Sherbrooke, and then said Montreal was an "unwelcoming city" of "special interest groups" when citizens' and heritage organizations objected. The hotel would have towered three times higher than the building heights permitted under city regulations and would have required the demolition of an adjacent 100-year-old mansion.
