Fantastic Plastic Machine's 20th Century Top I0

Being the immaculate stylemeister that he is, Tomoyuki was asked by the Mirror who he felt the 10 most stylish individuals of the millennium's last lap might be. Here they are:

10. Avant-garde composer John Cage "He is the most free-spirited musician who truly broke any standards of musical form. He surpassed any notion of 'this is the way music should be,' or anything like that."

9. French 'Nouvelle Vague' film director Jean-Luc Godard "Although he is a hard-headed, radical-extreme visual artist, he understands that the visual image can be stylish at a pure and profound level."

8. Scmaltz-pop overlord Burt Bacha-rach "He may be perceived as a representative of white 'square and conservative' music. However, this phenomenally kinky guy and the stylish code sequences which he innovated are such treasures in the 20th century."

7. Designer Charles Eams "The greatest designer in this entire century. All the furniture he's created will still be fresh and highly regarded in the 21st century."

6. Hip hop artist Wyclef Jean "He is the most stylish person within the hip hop community, which is a conclusion/last chapter of music in the 20th century."

5. Electronic Teutonics Kraftwerk "They are the godfathers of the modern electric club music. It's so cool and stylish that they have not been changed at all since the mid-'80s."

4. Decadent French popster.Serge Gainsbourg "Among the B-level artists, he is absolutely the A class. He doesn't have remarkable originality, yet being the most 'playboy' master is cool!"

3. Brazilian musician Joao Gilberto "He is a genius who invented and grew the greatest easy-listening music in this century, called bossa nova."

2. Hip hop boychiks Beastie.Boys "They do well not only for music but business, fashion and culture, and mix them all. Then they create their own style greatly."

and now (drum roll, please)...

1. Platinum super-geek Beck "He's the most stylish white musician today. He will continue to lead and explore something new in the 21st century."
