Every day is an Officially Special Day

Next Monday (March 8) is International Women's Day. But in case you forget to celebrate, never fear: according to the National Events List, which details all 169 "official" days/weeks/months in Canada, there's also Equality Day (April 17), Women's History Month (October) and, for the more inclusively minded, Persons Day (October 18).

Most events on the list are designed to help raise awareness about particular diseases (for example: National Dental Hygiene Week, October 18-24). Others, however, are downright ludicrous. Mark your calendars now.

April: New Homes Month

May 2-8: National Composting Awareness Week

May 4-10: Respect for Law Week (a must for anarchists!)

May 25: National Tap Dance Day

May 31-June 6: Intergenerational Week

August 13: International Left-Handers Day

October: Canadian Quality Month

November 21: World Television Day
