>>>The 2nd Comix Mirror

What you're holding in your hands is our second go at the Mirror's Comix Issue. Inside, you will find things that will amuse you, confuse you, enlighten, annoy and even (hopefully) infuriate you.

That the Comix Issue has the potential to serve this many functions is a testament to the remarkable diversity--and sheer volume--of comic-scrawling talent in Montreal. Every last piece of artwork herein is homegrown, and that still left names on the waiting list.

Now, I believe some thank-yous are in order. Firstly, a round of applause for former editor Annarosa Sabbadini. A bit more than a year ago, she proposed the idea of an all-comics issue of the Mirror, a ridiculous and entertaining stopgap between '97 and '98. Being the resident "comix guy," I naturally did a saucy little jig at the idea. Despite this, Annarosa carried on and we pulled off something of a media coup. A silly coup littered with bug-eyed bon hommes, but a coup nonetheless.

Thank you also to current editor Alastair Sutherland. Not only does he appreciate the base and infantile humour that runs rampant in the comix field, but he realizes that just because you don't "get" a comic strip doesn't mean it isn't a work of (sad, demented) genius (case in point: Mr. Rick Trembles).

As well, I'd like to thank Phillipe Parent and Sylvain Ferland, graphics guys without whose help this would have been a complete mess, and of course the artists, without whom... well, you can figure that one out for yourself.
