The Front

A protester who appears to stand for everything flashes his well-worn placard of jumbled messages at passing traffic outside the leaders' debate on Tuesday night. The protest was a who's who of political marginalia: public-sector unions decried government cutbacks, English-rights advocates decried the lack of English, francophone ultra-nationalists demonstrated against the English-rights people, communists protested against the bourgeoisie and anarchists protested against everything. Total number of protesters: approximately 500.
