Various Bossa Cuca Nova: Revisited Classics (Crammed/Fusion III) Not the drum & bossa bombshell we were hoping for, but close. Real Brazilians! 8 (CY)

Main Firmament III & IV (Beggar's Banquet/Koch) R. Hampton (ex-Loop) summons submarine noise, cold, dark and quiet like the ocean floor. 8 (RB)

Depeche Mode The Singles 8698 (Mute/Reprise) The dourest arena anthems ever. Rammstein's version of "Stripped" is funnier. 7 (CY)

The Undead 'Til Death (Underworld) Ex-Misfits Bobby Steele wheezes through 13 tracks that reek of pre-Giuliani lower east side punk rawk. 6.5 (JC)

Soul Coughing El Oso (Slash/Warner) I'm just gonna pretend the title means "the bone" in Spanish and leave it at that. 5 (CY)

Michel'le Hung Jury (EMI) The verdict's in and it sucks. This one's guilty of just plain mediocrity. 5/10 (GD)

Eighty Eight Fingers Louie Back on the Streets (Hopeless/Outside) Yawny yawn yawn. The Bad Brains cover almost made me vomit. 3.5 (JC)
