Teamsters organizer Martin Lepage stands alone in the dark, addressing a meeting of 100 people organized by the Rassemblement pour l'alternative politique (the Assembly for a political alternative), a coalition of left-leaning Quebec politicos, last Monday at the Medley. Lepage, the teenager who successfully unionized a South Shore McDonald's franchise last year (the owners shut the franchise down once union accreditation was granted), is now helping to unionize the McDonald's at Papineau and Mont-Royal. A decision on that unionization is expected sometime in October.
