Angel >> Coming to a bus stop near you City buses have begun picking up passengers confined to wheelchairs on at least three routes--the 27, 97 and 11--from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and from 6:30 p.m. onwards. The MUCTC is hoping that disabled commuters will feel comfortable among regular passengers and intends to expand the service onto other routes after a trial period. After months of complaining, Montreal commuters may finally understand why the new uncomfortable buses were designed so awkwardly to begin with.

Insect >> Maxi stores' bonus humour tape A kiddie snack bag, with all proceeds going to needy children, comes with a bonus humour cassette. On the tape, comedians Yvon Deschamps and Normand Brathwaite can be heard yelling, "Nigger black, nigger black," while Deschamps cracks a joke about black athletes running the 100-metre dash: "They've been training since they were small, running with our televisions, our radios, our sound systems." Maxi store manager Yvon Caron said the cassette was meant as an enticement for parents: "Everyone in Quebec knows Yvon Deschamps doesn't perform children's entertainment." But after receiving at least two complaints from the public, the tape was pulled. "Now, adults will have to ask for it specifically," says Laurent Pepin, spokesman for Maxi's parent company Provigo Inc.
