The Front

After the bleu-et-blanc whitewash of St-Jean-Baptiste day, the weekend was refreshingly colourful. First was the Carifiesta parade along René-Lévesque, which included this graceful tinkerbell, attended by about 10,000 spectators. And there were other festivals, some impromptu:
Little Italy spilled out into the streets around noon following the Italians' World Cup victory; then, after Brazil's 4-1 win over Chile at 5 pm, St-Laurent was the scene of a jubilation blockade attended by both winners and losers. Next big date: Friday, July 3 at 3 pm, when the Brazilians take on the Danes. Get thee to the Main, near Duluth. Photo by Gunther Gamper >>>
