Angel >> The Chorale de l'Accueil Bonneau, Montreal's homeless men's choir How's this for an incredible example of charity: the Chorale de l'Accueil Bonneau recorded their second album, Hit Inhérent (play on words meaning both "homeless" and "sure hit"), last May. The idea was for all royalties to go to the singers, to give them a stable source of income for once in their lives. Then the shelter where they all first met crumbles to the ground in a gas explosion three weeks ago. So now all proceeds from the sale of the album will go towards the rebuilding of the shelter; their income will have to wait until their third album next Christmas. Hit Inhérent ($20 CD, $15 cassette) is now available at the offices of the Accueil Bonneau, 404 St-Paul E., 845-3906. In record stores soon.

Insect >> Blind, killer intersections First it was Clark in the Mile-End/Park Ex part of town; a number of people died, and all local residents wanted was a bloody stop sign. Now it's "the Tunnel of Death," the underpass at St-Joseph and Iberville that runs below the railway tracks. Numerous accidents have occurred there over the course of the years, the most recent being last Friday, leaving one person dead and seven others wounded. We don't mind the survival-of-the-quickest relationship that exists between motorists and pedestrians in this city, and we prefer Montreal's urban chaos over the ordered, structured, non-competitive circulation of other cities. But it can only work if everyone can actually see everyone else. A message to our urban planners: listen to MCM mayoral candidate Michel Prescott, who is leading the charge, and fix the tunnel.
