So you definitely are coming back to Montreal... I'm coming to promote my movie, Hang the DJ. That I'm the star of, period. What are you going to play? What I always play at Twilo in New York City. With a fag edge. "House is dead." Discuss. First off, I'd like someone to explain to me the definition of house. "New York is dead." Discuss. New York? Absolutely not. The mayor should die, though. If you were mayor of New York, what would you do? I'd put an area where dance clubs could be, instead of an area for stripclubs and hookers. I'd reach out to the club community a bit more. Leave people alone to do their own thing--pay more attention to the crack dealers on the corner instead of worrying about some queen who has a little pill on her shoe. Who is the King of New York? Me. Period. How many records do you get a week? 25? 50? 100? Honestly, about 50. Between reps and regular records. How many records do you throw out every week? If I get 50, I keep 10. On average. That's in the mail, I'm not even talking about Record Pool. Record Pool, I don't even go to. I throw all of them out. What are your three fave records of all time? It's Christmas in May for house fanatics. No less than Junior Vasquez will be gracing the decks at Swirl with his straight-up house sounds... if "straight" is even an appropriate term. Vasquez has had a massive influence on the New York club scene, as you'll see in the film Hang the DJ, for which Swirl is effectively a launch party.
