Duchesneau dodges the bullet As of last Friday, Jacques Duchesneau is no longer Chief of the MUC Police. Will he run for mayor? One thing for sure, he's carefully protecting his positive public image: Duchesneau had initially agreed to grant a farewell interview to the Mirror, but then thought the better of it and reneged. >> In preparation for the interview, the Mirror asked participants in last month's march against police brutality what question they would ask Duchesneau if they were to conduct the interview. Here are some of the questions we'll never know the answers to: >> "Why are the police always on the squeegeers' case? Why don't they legalize squeegeeing?" --Vermine >> "Why do the police abuse their power? Why sic five policemen on someone you know has no money?" --Marjo >> "Why do the police let themselves be bought by big criminals and then turn around and crush the people with no money?" --Pepper >> "Why don't you come and interview the marginal people yourself and get the real account of what's happening? Tell Jacques Duchesneau to come spend a little time with those people who are considered worthless right now." --Jackie Reve >> "How do you sleep at night? How can you go home at night knowing how many people of colour and poor people you've criminalized?" --Anna >> "Can't you control your police force?" --Yves Manseau >> "Is your hair real?" --Sonia Marcoux --Jacquie Charlton and Philip Preville
