The house that pride built

>> Local drag troupe gets operatic

Getting in touch with one's feminine dimension has been at the basis of House of Pride's philosophy since their formation in 1993. The drag troupe has virtually become a Montreal household name in the years since, after extensive performances of their unique, tantalizing and ever-surprising brand of gender confusion. But their influence extends beyond the city, where gigs across North America and abroad have assured them an international reputation. Canadian queer theatre guru Sky Gilbert calls them "a startling mix of breathtaking choreography and gut-wrenching, heartbreaking personal stories." Later this month, the House will undoubtedly conquer a whole new genre when they premiere their first opera, titled simply House Opera. Expect the unexpected from Marta Marta, Joffrey Frigid, Jacklyn Jet, Kiet (pictured here), LaReign and Gartina J.
