Oh, just look at what rave culture's done! Ever thought you'd be wearing a tuxedo and listening to soul music in a space the size of an airplane hangar? At a hip hop block party in a museum? At a techno do in New Jersey? Size may not mean anything, but on this night of nights, er, it very well may.

Bal des Boys IV, 875-7026, Bad Boy Club Montreal The all-in-one night for circuit lovers and their friends! Twelve hours of gayness, non-stop in two venues. Part one, from 10pm to 6am, is at the Salle des pas perdus of the historic and newly renovated Windsor Train Station (Peel and St-Antoine), complete with glass roof for dancing under the stars. DJs Gilles Jr. and Alain Vinet. Also includes a revue by Bad Boy Club dancers. Free champagne at 12. Part deux, accessed by tunnel, is at the Molson Centre's La mise au jeu from 6am to 10am and includes a light breakfast. Tickets for both parties are $30 in advance, $40 at the door, $20 after 3am and $15 after 6am. Official afterhours part of Sky and K.O.X./Katakombes from 3-10am.

Celebration, Sona, 1439 Bleury, 737-CREW or 663-1261 Montreal's massive gets massive to this massive club culture monster! Two days and 37 hours long, from 9pm Dec. 31 to 10am Jan. 2. The bar will feature Juicebox playing live and Chicago DJ Felix the Housecat and granddaddy Kevin Saunderson from Detroit, along with localites Luc Raymond, Mateo, Tiga, XL, Laflèche, Frank Famery, Jordan Dare, Rob Brown, Double "A" & Twist, Krista, Patrick Dream and Alain Vinet. In the hip hop lounge (newly renovated and expanded), Shades of Culture perform live. DJs there include Ray Ray, Zadio, Curtis C., Red Dredd, Martin McLeish and Eddie Lewis. Tickets $45 for basic, $55 for open bar from 9pm to 12 and $95 for the special VIP package with all-night open bar, access to the VIP room, priority access to the club and a bottle of champagne.

Diamonds and Pearls III, Palais des congrès, 201 Viger W, 486-4423 About 4,000 are expected at this formal R&B-tinged megadance that spreads through six rooms at the Palais from 9pm to 5am. Includes: cigar lounge, a salsa/merengue room featuring Papo Ross and his Orchestra and other rooms featuring R&B, house and hip hop. Also available: Polaroids and regular photos, snack bar, pool and interactive games section. Tickets $35 at Admission (790-1245) or $45 at the door.

Heaven '97, Just for Laughs Museum, 2109 St-Laurent, 845-2322 Four levels, five dance floors, multiple bars, hor d'oeuvres and a cigar and martini lounge. DJs include Quest, Kurtis C., Cat, Kwite Sane, Reality, Mahesh, Groove, Jojo Flores and, in the Red Lotus Room, Greedyman, Paw-T and Infamous. At 2am it's Don Smooth and, at 4am, Mike "Tuff" Williams. Hosted by Paul and Amit. Between 3000 and 4000 expected, with strong representation from NYC, New Jersey, Boston, Toronto and Ottawa. Tickets at Tabou, Street Sounds, Vibes and Sportsfever. VIP entrance for ticket holders at 25 St-Norbert.

New Year's in New Jersey, 859-9040 Rave-y bus trip to the most brilliant-sounding party happening in New Jersey. Includes a day in NYC. DJs include fantastic Swedish techno dons Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebush, American hardcorists Mike Dearborn, Frankie Bones, Adam X, and The Creator, plus uppity-up junglist Aphrodite and Diesel Boy, plus A.K. 1200. In the house room Paul Johnson, Nigel Richard, the inimitable king of '97 Roy Davis Jr. and Dub Tribe Live. Tickets $70-$90, including bus fare. Deposit with reservation required by Dec. 29.

Push '98, McGill University Sports Centre, 475 Pine W., 288-7500 ext. 205 Push out the New Year with a three-room party from your friends at Shock and their Torontonian promoter-friends Industry, Futureshock and PFS. In Room 1, Chicago disco looper DJ Sneak plays his first live show. Also featured: Doc Martin from L.A. and New Yorkers Eric Morillo, Skeet and Russ Urban. In Room 2, Canadian talent including Ottawa's Max Graham and Martin Villeneuve and Toronto's Kenny Glasgow and Mario J with Rob Brown, Christian Pronovost, Peter Crno and Mark Anthony. In Room 3, the Scratch Lounge, the decidedly un-DMC-like lineup of Little Dragon, Gnat, Beets and D-John. Tickets $30-$50 at Admission (790-1245).

Seven Sins '98, Groove Society, Channel, Playground and Storm (1288, 1296 & 1298 Amherst), 981-8488 "One room, one sin, seven rooms, seven sins!" Yes, we think we can handle that. Starts with an open bar from 9:30-11:30pm and features live acts and 27 DJs over 30 hours in seven rooms. DJs Mark Anthony, Twisted's Rob di Stephano, Super Chumbo, Twisted, Alain Vinet, Nikola T., Arkin Allan and Peter Crno. Live acts include Eternity, Little Eric and Co3. Tickets $35 at the door or $30 advance at Juan and Juanita, En Équilibre at 1635 Ste-Catherine W, Bodytech, Freedom West Island.
