Miaouf: home sweet home After a summer plagued by neighbours' complaints and eviction notices from the Commission de protection du territoire agricole, Louise Gagnon's Miaouf shelter--the only shelter in Quebec that refuses to euthanize its animals--has finally found a new home in Ste-Justine de Newton, near Valleyfield. >> Miaouf's 500 cats and dogs now occupy the SQ's former canine compound. This time around, Gagnon probably won't be hearing many complaints, since her shelter is situated far from neighbouring residents. However, the shelter is in need of volunteers and donations to care for the abandoned pets and maintain the building. >> So on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Miaouf will hold a benefit concert to raise needed funds at Club Soda, 5240 Park, starting at 8:30 p.m. Performers will include Geneviève Paris, Les frères à Ch'val, Assar Santana et Chamel no. 6 and others. Tickets: $16 plus service fee, 790-1245. For more information on Miaouf and to make a donation, call 764-1006. --Chi Nguyen
