Bargain basement on the third floor
Theatre 1774 is hosting a mini-festival called A November to Remember at The Infinite Space, a former rehearsal room that's been renovated to accommodate studio productions. Many of the plays in the series--a brainchild of new Artistic Director Guy Sprung--were seen at last summer's Fringe; most are by local writers. The atmosphere is informal, with artists and audience often repairing to a bar downstairs after the performances. Admission is by donation, or just 10 bucks for a membership, which gives you access to every 1774 show over the next year. This weekend's offerings are Governor of the Dew, by Native playwright Floyd Favel, Bone Cold, written and performed by Jonathan Sprung (no relation to Guy) and See Bob Run by Daniel MacIvor, performed by Julie Tamiko Manning. A last-minute addition to the series is Wednesday night's reading of Garland House by Newfoundland playwright Des Walsh, who is in town under the auspices of Playwrights' Workshop.
Until Nov. 30, 3964 St-Laurent (3rd floor)
