Angel >> Everyone's favourite broadcast broads, Dykes on Mykes Time flies. Ten years ago, mainstream media were trying to deal with the rise of queer culture by delicately framing it, desperately trying to explain it, and above all attempting to retain control over it. Enter CKUT's Dykes on Mykes, who took control of the airwaves for an entire hour every second week and blew the lid off genteel mainstream pretensions. The Dykes are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a party at SKY next Thursday, Nov. 27. Catch the show every other Mondays at 7pm on CKUT, 90.3 FM.

Insect >> Alliance Quebec crybaby Trent Mell Last Friday, the Board of Directors of the anglo-rights lobby group elected Constance Middleton-Hope as its new President over 28-year-old challenger Mell. In her speech, Middleton-Hope made some disparaging remarks about Mell's youth, but Mell didn't have the political savvy to respond in kind to the septuagenarian Middleton-Hope, clearly yesterday's feminist. Spurned, Mell originally refused to have his picture taken with the winner, and said that after 14 years (!) with Alliance he would not seek the presidency again. It's about time you dropped it, Trent. You've been surrounded by geezers since you were 14. Go have yourself a rip-snortin' delayed adolescence.
