Back off, groper!

Even though reports first began to surface three weeks ago, MUC police have yet to take action against a man who has been stalking and groping women in the downtown area between the Atwater and Guy-Concordia metro stations. So Richard Dimitri, owner of Senshido martial arts centre located in the region, has decided to do something himself. In conjunction with the Mirror, Senshido will offer a free four-hour workshop on self-defense for women this Sunday, November 16, at Senshido, 680 Ste-Catherine West, beginning at 2 p.m. >> "From what's known about this man, he doesn't act randomly," Dimitri says. "He watches, he stalks, he makes contact. Then he attacks, gropes and runs. He hasn't raped anyone as yet." >> The Senshido workshop will cover the psychological aspects of confrontation, including how to spot potential attackers and how to deal with your own fear. "It's crucial to know how to deal with your own fear. Otherwise, you panic--and that's what makes you a victim." >> "I can guarantee that the women who attend will not be among this man's victims after the workshop."
