Angel >> Che Guevara After 30 years of death-in-exile, the legendary revolutionary's remains were finally laid to rest once and for all in Santa Clara, Cuba, last Friday. Executed by Bolivian soldiers at the age of 39, Guevara has become an icon for lefties around the world. Ironically, his icon status has also become a telling example of the adaptability of consumerism, as marketers have been increasingly slapping Guevara's image on everything from key chains to skis. No doubt Guevara would wish that he left a different kind of legacy.

Insect >> PQ MNA Monique Simard Back in 1994, Simard ran for the PQ, lost by a hair and threw a fit: anglophones with summer cottages in her riding had robbed her of victory, she said, by voting in the riding that was not their primary place of residence. In 1995, she ran again in a by-election and won; unfortunately, she was accused, then tried and convicted, of--surprise, surprise--voting in the Outremont municipal election when it was not her primary place of residence. Possible penalties for this crime include being banned from public office for up to five years. Simard is appealing the ruling, claiming that Quebec's municipal election's law is "unconstitutional." Go figure.
