Tickets still available? Let's riot! If you were lucky enough to see the Wyclef Jean concert at Metropolis last Thursday, you missed out on another show happening outside the club. Around 9 p.m., police were called in to disperse the 300-plus crowd waiting to get in after a Metropolis doorman took a bottle to the face. >> Conventional wisdom has it that such problems always start once tickets are sold out. But according to Metropolis management, tickets were actually still available at the door at showtime. They decided to close the doors as a security measure after the bottle-throwing incident. >> Clad in full riot gear, police moved the frustrated fans down a side-street without incident, taking some pressure off at the door. The trouble started up again when the two thousand people inside the club walked out into the mix. Police say about 40 people were responsible for throwing bottles and rocks, resulting in two police injuries, four arrests and several damaged storefronts. >> The club also maintains that any rumours about them cancelling upcoming black shows are completely false. Management will also reimburse the cost of any tickets that were not honoured at the door. --Scott C.
