Céline Dion exposed! Ian Halperin, co-author with fellow Montrealer Max Wallace of the upcoming Kurt Cobain exposé Love and Death: The Story of Kurt and Courtney, has just released a "Very, Very, Unauthorized Biography" of Céline Dion. Céline Dion: Behind the Fairytale details her fantasies of having children with Michael Jackson, her suicide attempt in a garage, her fight with Phil Spector over artistic differences, and manager and husband René Angelil's toe fetish. >> Dion and her management entourage are currently the defendants in a much-publicized $9 million suit by a songwriter who claims his song was plagiarized. But the book also claims that long-time band member Pete Barbeau received a settlement for a song he co-wrote that ended up on the multimillion selling album Falling Into You, after Dion and Angelil reneged on promises to cut him in. >> Halperin was approached by the Boca Raton publisher Boca Books to write the biography last year. He rushed the book out to time its release ahead of five other Céline Dion biographies scheduled for this time, including an authorized biography by Georges-Hébert Germain, the husband of Dion's publicist. The initial print run of Behind the Fairytale is 30,000 copies and, according to a source close to Halperin, a "huge amount" of orders for the book have already been made. >> The source added that Love and Death: The Story of Kurt and Courtney is due out "soon," but would not reveal the publication date for fear of precipitating legal intimidation against their New York publisher. --Jacquie Charlton
