Diana King Think Like a Girl (Sony)

The around-the-way Jamaican girl is back with more of the same urban/ragamuffin that made her debut album such a breath of fresh air. Straddling the line between reggae and R&B, King proves herself comfortable and capable with both. Tracks like "Find My Way Back" offer King the opportunity to stretch out vocally, while the title track and "L-L-Lies" jam strong in the ear and on the dance floor. 7.5/10 (Gerard Dee)

Coleman Hawkins On Broadway (Prestige/Polygram)

A reissue of material from a number of 1962 sessions for the Moodsville label by the "father of the jazz tenor saxophone," who died in 1969. Hawkins is backed by his regular trio of the time, Tommy Flanagan (Mr. Taste) on piano with Major Holley on bass and Eddie Locke on drums. A relaxed look at 17 songs from 15 Broadway shows including "The Sweetest Sounds" from No Strings. 8.5/10 (Len Dobbin)

Neil Landstrumm Bedrooms & Cities (Tresor)

If you like your techno hard yet groovy, this is the album you've been waiting for. Combining the hard Chi-house rhythms of Brown by August (Landstrumm's first LP) with the experimentation of Understanding Disinformation (his second), Landstrumm crafts eight tracks of lo-fi drum machine rhythms, video game bleeps and sub-harmonic basslines that'll make you say "what the hell is that noise?" while your booty shakes. And with track titles like "Miami Vice" and "Brazilian Death Metal," who can resist? 9.5/10 (Mateo)
