Obscure Disorder Lyrically Exposed Part 1&2 12" (Audio Research)

Exposure is definitely something familiar to the cut-proficient DJ A-Trak, but for the rest of Montreal's Obscure Disorder, this is a lyrical step forward. MCs Science, Eclipse and Logic represent Montreal dialect with both individuality and collective skill. Although I prefer the A-side, the remix has an eerie depth and a formidable kick, courtesy of producer Dave ONE, that deserves a good listen. 7/10 (Scott C)

Kevin Kast Live at The Arrival

Hate funky break, you dance music snob? Then steer clear. But for the rest of you fun seekers this mixie's got skilled, live mixing on unpretentious feel-gooders that owe more to "Two Fat Guitars" than to anything falling under the heading "big beat." This landed Swiss kid will go far with the landed Laval kids. Shelltoes in the air! Available at DNA Records. 7.5/10 (Mireille Silcott)
