Various A Twist Of Jobim (Verve/Polygram)

Multi-talented jazz man Lee Ritenour has assembled a stellar list of superstar talent to pay homage to the late Antonio Carlos Jobim and his unique Brazilian jazz creation, bossa nova. Oleta Adams, Al Jarreau and Herbie Hancock are among the players who wet the musical palate like a cool drink: smooth going down, no bitter after taste. Great dinner party music. 7.5/10 (Gerard Dee)

Joe Lovano Celebrating Sinatra (Blue Note/EMI)

Take 13 songs associated with "'Ol' Blue Eyes," add the tenor and straight tenor (a prototype instrument) of Joe Lovano, mix with eight just-right orchestrations by renowned arranger Manny Ablam and you come up with this delightful musical dish. The five remaining tracks offer a dessert of various flavours and the voice of Judi Silvano is the icing on the cake. 9.5/10 (Len Dobbin)
