Wammo Fat Headed Stranger (Mouth Almighty/Mercury)

This good ol' boy, known simply as Wammo, may have single-handedly taken the art of spoken word to its next step. With a drunken sloppy grin, a six-pack of Bud in one hand and a frozen pizza in the other, he sends us postcards bearing pictures of rifle racks, Spam, Charles Bukowski and dimly lit bars. Places most spoken-word artists seldom go. 9/10 (Johnson Cummins)

Size Queen Pimps, Pumps and Pushers (Twisted)

The Twisted label has pretty much disappointed housers who followed imprint head Rob di Stefano when he left Tribal America. Size Queen doesn't interrupt the trend: Pimps is load of hardbag trash and teeters on the embarrassing. The prodding, prancing "Walk" was a cute gimmick track when it was released two years ago, but the whole hard sex/big balls thing just seems redundantly idiotic (We all have sex! Big deal!) when stretched to an LP. 7/10 (Mireille Silcott)
