The X-exhibitsThis Friday is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Open City, a non-profit organization of artists, will be organizing a series of interactive art exhibits in all seven green-line metro stations in the downtown core. Among the more ambitious projects: a "race radio" exhibit in which metro riders' comments are recorded and replayed on the Berri-UQAM station's sound systems and the full-blown invasion of the St-Laurent station by extraterrestrials. "We want people to recognize the racist attitudes they don't even know they have," says Open City's Buster Ogbuagu. "The good thing about interactive art exhibits is that no one feels preached to. The exhibit is there, but you come to it and interact with it if you want to." |
