The RG-filesRG magazine, or Revue Gaie, is on the defensive yet again. On the heels of Aids Community Care Montreal (ACCM)'s victory against RG last month before the Quebec Press Council, the Centre des gais et lesbiennes de Montréal (CCGLM) has decided to file a complaint of its own against the magazine. CCGLM's complaint surrounds an article in the November 1996 issue, which alleged instances of fraud and financial mismanagement at CCGLM. "We originally wanted to take them to court and sue them for damages caused to the Centre's reputation," says Le Clerc, "but it would have cost us at least $6,000, and the Centre doesn't have that kind of money."
RG Editor Alain Bouchard told the Mirror that RG stands by the story. He also noted that RG is currently appealing the Press Council's decision on the ACCM complaint. A civil suit is also currently pending in the courts between RG and AIDS hospice Maison du Parc.
