WHAT A DRAG |
|
Saucy: So here’s a way to waste your entire day. Momoya Co. Ltd., a Japanese food company that makes sauces and things, has put up a website devoted to about 30 years of its wacky animated television commercials. This is pure, unfiltered wacky, drawn at cask strength from the master distiller’s personal stash. The ads, done in a Hanna-Barbera-ish style, feature a cartoon likeness of Norihei Miki, who is sort of a Japanese Phil Silvers, singing and dancing and doing incomprehensible things, typically in drag, involving sauce, all in Japanese. What’s not to love at documentshowa.jp. Do the Urkel: Have a little less time to waste? Unreality Mag put together a little run-down of the best YouTube videos of the best covers of ’80s sitcom theme tunes, starting with a cool, soulful rendition of the Family Matters tune, featuring a sitar and Israelis, two cute indie chicks doing Full House and a way-over-the-top version of “Perfect Strangers” by the 90210 Twins, who probably have their own show by now at bit.ly/afypAR. —Michael CitromeComments? mikecitrome@yahoo.com |
