The people behind Spit the Truth stay busy on the regular, but this monthly is less about them than the next-in-line. Catch round three of the open mic/performance showcase at Jupiter Room tonight, May 27, when Ritalin, Lady Katalyst, P.Flow Matics and Premium Plus headline alongside a pre-sign-up open mic list that is already spilling over with talent. On-spot sign-ups are still open. Get Nice Fridays at Blizzarts with DJ Cosmo are getting nicer and nicer, and the Get Nice Summer Mix (streaming at tinyurl.com/2c4uwxo, “save page as” to DL for keeps) displays why Cosmo and his weekly get the co-sign. This isn’t just a mixtape—like the night, it’s a mixed grill, with red wine, cigars and hallucinogenic chocolate for dessert. It would be rude not to take what is offered. The Narcicyst does much to put Montreal rap on the map, and to thank him, I highly recommend putting your money where your mouth is and downloading his re-released, self-titled 2009 album at tinyurl.com/2c5vghl. With a new master and three new joints, this already dope record just got a digital makeover worth your 12 bucks. Finally, the folks at Morburn Music (the amazing people behind the MTL vs. T.O mixtape) recently added a Top 10 Local chart to their site, compiling submissions from radio shows around town. Check them out at morburn-music.com. They support you—reciprocate in kind. GIVE YOURSELF A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE... |
