Hello, Mirror readership—welcome to Block Clocker. Long have I walked among you, thrown my hands in the air beside you, and said “hop” when rappers said “hip” along with you. It is now my great privilege to guide you each week to the best in local hip hop talent, as well as acts lucky enough to visit our lovely city. That’s enough about me. This column is for you.

Tonight, and every Thursday night, is your chance to sweat and swagger at the now infamous Re-Tox Thursdays at Concordia’s premier watering hole, Reggie’s. I clearly cannot up this every week, but what better way to set the mood than to reminisce on the classic? Grandmaster of the mash-up DJ F.U.N.K. and his rotating cadre of distinguished guest weirdos stay fresh weekly like butter should, without the salt, and the beautiful people on staff will keep your limbs oiled on the cheap. This jam gets so packed, the Hall Building might have to be renamed the Out-in-the-Hall Building, so get there unfashionably early if you want in.

Saturday, March 13, Rhymesayer deluxe and Doomtree label founder P.O.S. brings his Every Never Is Now tour to Il Motore, his first headlining show here since the release of last year’s masterpiece LP, Never Better. Pissed Off Stef, Piece of Shit, Point of Sale, Promise of Stress, Promise of Skill—call him any of the above, but if you challenge the man to a thumb-wrestle, be sure to flex first. He holds the title. And if you like your hip hop covered in hardcore punk tattoos, don’t miss it. Joining him are Doomtree labelmate Dessa as well as Astronautalis. Expect the indescribable.
