Deniers are bullies
[Re: “Shitting in our own den,” Letters, Dec. 24] There is no controversy about climate change amongst most scientists on Earth. The fabricated scandal was already exposed as a lie, yet the man-made climate change deniers (lobbyists) continue to ignore it. I for one am fed up with their McCarthyist tactics, as they are trying to bully and ridicule to silence the truth.
Here is a quote from one of them about the fabricated controversy over two e-mails that the climate change deniers insist on ignoring.
Saleemul Huq, a Bangladeshi-born scientist and lead author on parts of the last two reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change:
“Now, these are two very minor incidents in the scientific debate. First of all, this isn’t the only centre that has the evidence. The evidence is very, very clear, and it goes across many different centres. So the Climate Research Unit in East Anglia is not the only place. Secondly, temperatures will go down. Nobody is saying that every year and every day the temperatures are continuously going to go up. It’s the trend that matters.”

Truthers are not all
mental patients
[Re: “Truthers and their rubbish,” Letters, Dec. 24] I would like to thank Marco Ermacora for his letter concerning Splitting the Sky’s 9-11 Truth engagement (quoting Chomsky that science always has some degree of unexplainable variances).
However, he provided a flimsy rebuttal, so easily debunked that he, like many “wackjobs,” only served to provide an absurd and defenseless target, which could be beaten upon until all were convinced that there truly were no logical arguments on his side.
There are indeed a few logic-based responses to the scientific, circumstantial, fact-based and other evidence put forth by 9-11 Truthers which would serve him much better than “it’s unexplainable” that Allah made three buildings, all built to withstand airplane impact, to fall in perfect “controlled demolition” form when only two of them were hit; and for the wreckage of two other airplane crashes to disappear almost entirely; and for dozens of pieces of Pentagon video evidence being mysteriously “unavailable.” These pieces of evidence, however, are only scratching the surface of the details that 9-11 Truthers base their charges on.
Sure, there are wacky “conspiracy nuts” on the case—and they are easily identified by their crazy theories—but the 9-11 Truth movement is more than a few mental patients. It is actually the majority of New Yorkers right now, and a large percentage, if not the majority, of 20- to 35-year-olds in many parts of the world, including Europe, Canada and many other countries with free access to information and the intestinal fortitude to suspend the herd instinct and actually watch two-hours plus of the case details in the now mainstream Loose Change and Terrorstorm documentaries.
There are numerous wars going on due to this single event and if you don’t think you should investigate the details of that single event then you, sir, need to take another good look at your values and priorities.
>>DOIN’ WHAT I CAN
I usually do not write letters to newspapers, but Marco Ermacora’s letter needs to be corrected. He used so many words to say so little. I will attempt to use few words to say much.
I am to believe: the fires from the jet fuel were hot enough to pulverize three steel frame buildings (even though WTC 7 wasn’t even hit by a plane). But the fire was not hot enough to burn the passport of Mohamad Atta.

Cum on ye faithful?
[Re: Under the logo, Cover, Dec. 24] I found the “Cum all ye faithful” tag quite offensive and insensitive to people celebrating Christmas. The Mirror should reflect the diversity of all its readers.

Avatar not ho-hum
[Re: “Blue skin blues,” Film, Dec. 17] You seem rather ho-hum on what I thought was an awesome cinematic achievement. Did you see it on an IMAX? Quite frankly, that is the proper venue for this movie. This film is about immersing yourself into a different reality, which it does very well. Well, you can’t do that in a crappy theatre.
