Okay, ya’ll, watch my feet now. Left leg. Right leg. Two step. Spin around. Shake it. Easy. Cool. Relax. We’re gonna start practising this tonight, Nov. 12, at Tokyo Bar’s champagne room with Gotham City’s own Eli Escobar, a close affiliate of legendary hip hop radio DJ Stretch Armstrong and a pure menace in his own right. An expert in house and disco edits, Esco is now co-hosting the excellent Delancey Music Service show on East Village Radio alongside Armstrong. We also get a bonus appearance by Rilly Guilty, who may soon serve life for murder on the dancefloor after the few times I’ve seen him play recently. Check for him from now on, big homie’s gonna blow up. Be ready to dance and expect the unexpected.

Friday night, one of my favourite existing funk bands in the world (who happens to be from Montreal—boom boom!), Groove Attic, will be at Jupiter Room with a simple mission in mind—to blow your minds in search of the perfect groove. Believe the hype, suckas, these guys are amazing. They’ll be playing songs from their debut, Like a Tree, and will share the bill with Ruckus Fo’Tet and Philippe Look. After that, it’s shots at the bar with Lexis and a smoke outside with SevDee as they are hosting Brooklyn, NY resident Nickodemus for the always fruitful night the Bridge at Blizzarts.

Saturday night, I’ll still be grooving with Lexis but this time at la Sala Rossa for the fifth edition of Who’s Hungry, one of the city’s best one-on-one dance battles. Be ready to witness some serious moves. The next day, Redmask Crew’s 10-year anniversary celebration is going down at Urban Element (910 Jean-Talon E.) at 6 p.m. While we’re on the boogie, Unkut Productions is holding auditions for hip hop and street dancers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Studio Bizz (551 Mont-Royal E., 3rd floor), so if you think you got juice, it’s your time to prove it.
