FALLING DOWN

Block buster: It’s easy to imagine yourself in some video games—slinging a grenade launcher in an alien landscape like in Halo, scoring a touchdown in Madden 2010, even stomping some turtles like Super Mario. But Tetris? What would that be like? A Flash game called Tetris’d unlocks the answer. You’re a little stick guy trapped in a Tetris game and you have to avoid falling blocks without falling off the platform. It’s addictively tough at newgrounds.com/portal/view/514128.

It’s huge! Everything is relative. A coffee bean may seem small to you, but if you were an amoeba, it would seem like a city block. And if you were a red blood cell, that grain of salt would be a huge, salty, square mountain. And if you were a carbon atom, well, you’d make viruses feel large and in charge. The University of Utah’s Genetic Science Learning Center has a super cool Flash thingie that lets you zoom way in to compare the relative size of really tiny objects, so feel big at learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/begin/cells/scale/.
