Friday afternoon, at Instock (5259 Parc), four of Montreal’s heaviest and most influential dudes to ever hold a spray can—Stack, Zeck, Dfex and Shok—hold a vernissage of their recent exclusive and original artworks. These playas are all 10-year-plus veterans on the scene, big brothers of street art in the city and very respected dudes on the international level, so don’t sleep, go peep. Beats for the evening are courtesy of DJ Sagewondah and the Payz Play DJs. Also, make sure to check the interview with Stack on bastacompany.com and, while we’re on the pillar in question, you should also see the video of last month’s Meeting of Styles (with TC5!), excellently shot and edited by Phil Arsenault, at philgoodmovie.com, which totally caught the vibe of those two days of painting murals. After that important stop, the jump-off will be at Decibel Underground, where a Coalition of the Willing consisting of Classi Assi, A-Rock, Rilly Guilty, Seb Diamond, Phil AD, New Money and F.U.N.K. embark on Mission Paradise Garage, a brave and commendable plan of attack to save Montreal’s weekend nightlife. We wish them the best on this humble endeavour and we will be there to witness their success. Saturday night, I’ll be two-stepping at Club Soda when Daddy Fat Sacks, aka Billy Ocean, aka Big Boi, one half of Outkast, takes the stage to run through some classics and hopefully give us a taste of what he has in store for us with his upcoming release, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Ch’yea! ALRIGHT, CLASS IS DISMISSED… DABEATSEEKER@GMAIL.COM |
