’Sup, ya’ll. We’re gonna start the weekend strong with the Reebok Classics Party at Théâtre Telus on Friday night with none other than the man that made me love hip hop, the crafter of the soundtrack to my life, the father of the scratch chorus, the one and only DJ Premier. Ya’ll already know I love Preemo and matter of fact, I was thinking that’d be a great name for my first son: Preemo Solomon Steiker. What do you think about that? Speaking of Preemo and classics, you guys should peep the joint he did on the new M.O.P. album called What I Wanna Be. It’s vintage Premier at his best, one of his better beats in years. He’ll be headlining the party on Friday alongside Rahzel, one of the greatest beatboxers in the world (for those who don’t know), formerly from the Roots, with his DJ JS-1 and also Imposs, former member of Muzion.

Saturday, everyt’ing’s irie with Mikey Dangerous rocking the crowd for the Newschoolers Awards, again at Théâtre Telus, with a helping hand from Payz Play DJs. Beenie Man makes a stop at EB Lounge as part of the Legend’s Return North American Tour, with special guest Red Flames Sound, and also, that youngster Sean Kingston croons to all the beautiful girls at Metropolis. Take your pick.

The Word Up! Battle’s second edition is also going down on Saturday at le Sino Shop (2817 Ontario E.) at 4 p.m. This competition’s gonna get hot, with 16 contenders going upside each other’s heads for a pot at the end and judges D-Shade, Dirty Taz, Koriass, DJ Xcape and DJ Horg measuring up who the champ will be.

You can hear your boy live on the airwaves on Friday from 4–6 p.m. on Doc Holidae’s Phantastiq Cypha on CJLO. Tune in, listen, and appreciate.
