Ring ring: Want to turn those songs you bought from iTunes into ringtones for your iPhone? You’re out of luck, Canuck. Or are you? There are ways around the ringtone embargo, and Audiko is the easiest one so far. Just upload any MP3 file, cut it, fade it, download, add it to iTunes and presto! Ringtone! There’s no promise of protection from RIAA lawyers, so make sure you use sound clips that you created yourself, and whatever you do, don’t download the thousands of ringtones already created by other users at audiko.com.

TV Party: On a totally unrelated note, televisiontunes.com has a huge archive of TV theme tunes, fanfares, commercial break bumpers and even clips like that dun-dun sound from Law and Order. What makes this site great is how obscure it can get–where else would you find the theme from the scare-o-riffic 1980s TV Ontario educational Doctor Who rip-off Read All About It? Not iTunes, that’s for sure. Now if only there was some way to turn them into ringtones.
