Friday night, skate shop Empire is celebrating its 10th birthday in style with a massive party at Opera with Onyx (word, blast from the past) and the Eh! Team DJs rocking on 12 decks at once. Saturday, the St. Laurent street fair is back on and poppin’ with the Peer Pressure block party part trois, starring DR One, Jordan Dare, Mary Hell, L’Etiquette, Maysr, Hatchmatik, A-rock, Shaydakiss, Merk Meny, DL Jones, and some refreshing lemonade to enjoy in the sun on the corner of des Pins and the Main. Tokyo’s rooftop, right around the corner, will be releasing the smell of BBQ and the sounds of Truspin, Rilly Guilty, Sagewondah, Seb Diamond, Phil Auben, Kelly Nunes, and New Money. At night, I’ll be swayin’ wit my queen to the sweet Carribean tunes of Jamaica’s rising reggae voice Tarrus Riley, fresh off the success of “Beware” and “She’s Royal,” then off to Zoobizarre for the new monthly Masala Sono from CISM. Sunday is unquestionably gonna be the special Ninja Tune edition of Piknik with Amon Tobin, Boom Monk Ben, Speakerbruiser Rob, and Ghostbeard. And don’t forget to tune in to DJ Solespin’s “Eclectricity” show on CJLO Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. for its third anniversary celebrations. God Bless. KOALAS, KANGAROOS, AND KOOL-AID… DABEATSEEKER@GMAIL.COM |
