Tonight, everything remains raw with the one and only Busta Rhymes coming through the city to tear da roof off at Metropolis with a helping hand from Belly, as well as my colleague and vocal scholar the Narcicyst. He and Busta had a well-publicized exchange following the release of Bus’s single “Arab Money” and Narcy’s response “The Real Arab Money,” which addressed the fallout of the original song and the strong reactions it garnered. Busta ended up calling Narcy and the two had a man-to-man talk that resulted in a mutual respect and understanding. For a better understanding of this exchange and a wide variety of other entertaining and insightful stuff, check out Narcy’s illuminarcy.blogspot.com. Also on the bill tonight at Metropolis, we got Koriass, one of my favourite francophone rappers these days, plus Shogun and tunes courtesy of DJ Midas, DJ Shortcut and Keith Dean. Also tonight, if you don’t make it to the show, you should head down to Time Supper Club and see R&B princess Leila making the guys drool and the girls shake it during her live performance with DJ M1 from Paris. I’ve had this girl on my radar for a while now and you should do the same. Find her fan videos on YouTube to see the proof in the pudding. Friday night, it’s hardcore hip hop on the menu with Tunisiano from the French group Sniper and Sat from Fonky Family at Decibel Underground. Saturday, boogie funk ambassador Dam-Funk and DJ Lexis are doing the Goods at la Sala Rossa. And then back to Metropolis that night for De La Soul. LEAVE YA NAME AND NUMBA… DABEATSEEKER@GMAIL.COM |
