Friday, the fourth edition of the Hip Hop You Don’t Stop festival is kicking off its two-day celebrations with a jam at Mackenzie King Park in NDG, featuring a performance from legendary MC Buckshot alongside live sets from other young artists from the Côte-des-Neiges/NDG area. Buck will also be giving an open seminar about his professional experience and involvement with the youth. Day two will focus on graffiti, featuring a seminar with pioneer graf writer JonOne, who made his name on NYC’s subway cars in the ’80s and is now a painter in New York and Paris. Saturday, Piknic Électronik is once again the place to be during its Osheaga edition, with a wicked line-up starting at 2 p.m. with Slipmat, followed by Mofomatronix, Bonjay and Poirier with his frequent MC, Face-T. While you’re on Île Ste-Hélène, you should take a loop around Osheaga and peep K’naan at 5 p.m., the Roots at 7:30 p.m. and Girl Talk at 9:30 p.m., but that’s just your homie’s picks. Definitely finish the night at the SAT with local mascot A-Trak rocking the party with Peanut Butter Wolf, Treasure Fingers and Mayday, who also won herself a spot on the MEG boat during the Diesel Music competition, so shout out to her. The Beatnuts are rocking Osheaga on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., BTW, and post-weekend, the Bell Centre gets warmed up on Wednesday with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Drake and Soulja Boy.
