DEAD WOOD

Probably all couples have that special little role-playing fantasy they turn to when the situation calls for more naughty than nice, whether it be Randy Milkmaid, Angry Pharaoh or Lonesome Adolf. For Deborah Yvette Parker and Broderick Craig Crachian, it was Dirty Cowboy, and it may well have ended in a sweaty embrace and sweet nothings had the longtime couple only played with an unloaded gun. Instead it ended up in this paper—a fate only slightly less awful than the one of death bestowed on Crachian.

According to Houston, Texas, prosecutor Marcy McCorvey, Parker and Crachian were using a handgun during foreplay “with the victim’s acquiescence.” McCorvey says Parker describes it as “playing ‘Dirty Cowboy.’” At some point the handgun went off, firing a single yet fatal round into Crachian’s chest. Parker immediately called 911 asking for help.

Parker, who had been convicted of prostitution in 2007, has been charged with manslaughter and felony illegal possession of a firearm. Neither McCorvey nor Parker’s court-appointed attorney would elaborate on what Dirty Cowboy entails, but kudos to the Houston Chronicle for asking.
