This week, you should start by telling your legs to do your eyes a favour and march down to Galerie Yves Laroche and check out the new Babylon exhibit, presenting Jon Todd and Martin Wittfooth’s subversive work. I know I’m smelling my own wine-and-cheese farts with this statement but Todd’s kaleidoscopic iconography and Wittfooth’s post-apocalyptic imagery is nonetheless something that will leave you feeling good about our generation’s visual legacy, so don’t miss it. It’s on until June 28.

While we’re on the visual tip, you can also go peep the opening of the Emporium Gallery’s Group Expo, in cahoots with champion blog Montreal State of Mind, featuring about 15 Montreal artists including Fangs, Kit Malo and 123Klan among others. Vernissage tonight, June 18, at 7 p.m.

What else can I do this weekend, you may ask, curious little homie. Well, tonight, 33mag.com and Rated Rookies are throwing a diddy at Balroom with the soundtrack provided by DJ Arcadio and l’Etiquette. Hit up ratedrookies.com to check their summer collection—freshness will follow.

Friday night, Rilly Guilty and Mayday, aka the Angels With Filthy Souls, take their raging clue to Salon Officiel for a night of sinful living, so you should join them. Manny Ward will be at Karma at the same time, celebrating his birthday and throwing down his blend of progressive disco house that gets a stamp of “I fuck with this” from the Beatseeker.

Black Eyed Peas are headlining day one of the Virgin Festival at Parc Jean Drapeau. On day two, Cali’s own masked heroes Jabbawockeez will be giving a special performance during the day and Akon will be performing everybody’s favourite ringtones at night. I’ll be kickin’ it at this summer’s second St-Laurent street fair, coolin’ out at the Peer Pressure block party on the corner of des Pins and barbecuing on the rooftop of Tokyo with the goodfellas of Lookout and WESC, so come join the fam.
