Friday night’s gonna be heavyyyy. Unless you’ve been smoking crack under a rock for the past three months or taking an entire Seinfeld marathon to the face, then you know Mutek is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and this weekend will see the bulk of it. For most of the info, you can check out my column-space brother Jack Oatmon, but one thing I can tell you is that I’ll be at Metropolis checking out what could be Ghislain Poirier’s last show in MTL for a good minute. He’ll be joined by drummer Christian Olsen and MCs Face-T and Boogat, while the rest of the night will be taken care of by Pax Kings, Original Hamster vs. Nego Moçambique, Jahcoozi and Bostich + Fussible. Same night, we also got Urbani’z Me at Kola Note, an event that will be celebrating hip hop culture under many forms and raising money for the Lara Roxx Foundation to prevent HIV among youths. Artists will include STL-Finest, Wilko, Ruby, Young Krow, Scrufayce, Dirty Taz, Dramatik and Young Snag as well as designers Ma’liciouz Style and Sandrine B7. Salon Officiel will be making room for L’etiquette & Friends with special guest Silver Sly while Café Campus will host Special KO: Jungle vs. Drum & Bass with Rcola, DB Vaig, Generic & Qubiq and Golgo 13. Saturday’s also got the sweet smell of napalm in the morning with the Peer Pressure Block Party happening during the street sale on the corner of Bagg and St- Low, low, low with a plethora (my favourite word) of local DJ nerds including A-Rock, SHAYdakiss, DL Jones, Gregular, N.R.O.T.B., Lebronze, Truspin, Rilly Guilty and their many many friends. Same night, U.K.’s Total Science will be tearing down Decibel with the help of Corey K, Mayday and Bassic. South Rakkas Crew at Blue Dog sunday night, just to come full circle… PLATEAU, WE GO HARD...
