Largely homophobic

Hot on the most darling heels of an EU report showing Poland has a fair bit of work to do when it comes to equality for and acceptance of homosexuals, one right-wing politician has stepped up to show his xenophobia won’t be contained to merely those with voting rights. Ironically, Poznan city councillor Micahl Grzes’ gay-is-not-quite-human attitude actually has some merit in this instance, as the object of his contempt isn’t quite human. It’s an elephant, and Grzes has been quite vocal against the Poznan Zoo’s use of public money to add the big fag to its bestiary.

“We didn’t pay 37-million zlotys (about $14-million Can) for the largest elephant house in Europe to have a gay elephant living there,” complained the councillor for the right-wing Law and Justice party. The 10-year-old bull, Ninio, has been known to prefer the company of other males over females, sparking some concern that Ninio won’t sire a herd. Zoologists have pointed out that Ninio’s behaviour isn’t that uncommon among elephants, and that his interest in lady elephants should kick in when he hits puberty at 13 or 14 years old. At full size, Ninio should top a light-in-the-loafers 12,000 pounds and boast six-and-a-half feet of ass-ravaging penis.
