Know your inner you

Intuition consultant believes clients’
inner voice speaks the truth

by CHRIS BARRY

Name: Julie Cusmariu

Age: 32

Occupation: Intuitive consultant

Bio: This insightful, soulful, somewhat psychic Plateau chick was all set for a career in business, having completed her undergrad degree at Concordia’s John Molson school of business and jumping into a corporate job shortly thereafter. Soon recognizing “business wasn’t anything I was really passionate about” and having “always been interested in the world beyond what I could see and the deeper motivations of life, people and nature,” Julie started “trying to find ways to channel that curiosity into something that could be a career,” and eventually, via mucho “perseverance, deep searching and a series of serendipitous events,” began studying to become the certified intuitive consultant/life coach she is today. Reach her via juliecusmariu.com.

What an “intuitive consultant” will do for you: Get you using “your intuition to access the infinite power and wisdom inherent within you to create, to heal, to transform and to live an inspiring life.”

Sounds awesome. Why should anybody consult their intuition for guidance as opposed to their intellect? “What creates our wholeness is having both intellect and intuition, except we don’t often acknowledge our intuition. We all have our own answers within us. It all begins with us and understanding what’s within us.”

How will trusting my intuition help me live a less miserable life? “Well remember, it’s not like your intuition is your ticket to freedom forever and always. For example, it might tell you to take a certain job that five weeks later you discover isn’t right for you. But it’s always the path to well-being and growth and it always serves to bring meaning into your life. But it takes commitment, it’s a way of life and it takes courage. Like, your intuition might tell you it’s time for a certain relationship to end. Does that make it an easy process? No, but a feeling of relief comes over a person when they know deep down what they need to do—even if it isn’t going to be easy.”

What if my intuition instructs me to capture and torture a few choice children before decapitating them, eating their entrails and serving up what’s left of their corpses as free soup to the homeless people of Berri Square? “That’s actually a great question. Your intuition will always serve your and others’ well-being, always to enhance. There’s no torture, violence or death attached to it. That’s ego.”

One simple exercise you can do to start tapping into the infinite wisdom of your intuition: “Close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, and then ask yourself a question, any question, it doesn’t matter and then allow the question to rise, to surface. The answer will come up. But it takes practice. You can tell it’s your intuition talking if you’re feeling more relaxed, or relieved or there’s a certain sense of peace. But if you’re feeling anxious, worried or scared by a decision, that’s ego—or an emotion that isn’t intuition.”

Should you choose to hire Julie as your very own personal intuitive consultant, will God, Jesus, Allah, Muhammad or Arthur Fonzarelli play any role in one’s development? No. “It’s you, yourself and you.”

Musical preferences: The Pixies, Daft Punk, Deva Premal.

Last book read: This Light in Oneself, by J. Krishnamurti.

Words of wisdom: “You know best.”
